Web Basics 102 - Web Styling

This course builds on what you learned in Web Basics 101 and covers topics in more advanced CSS and HTML5 elements. Great for students with some HTML/CSS background, but needing the necessary skills to fully design a web page.

What will I learn?

Web Basics 102 will carry you through more advanced principles in HTML/CSS and prepare you for designing and enhancing your first web project. Throughout this course you will be expanding on the basic layout you developed in Web 101.

Topics Covered:

  • HTML5 and its current implementation – header, footer, nav, section, article
  • CSS3 - discuss current implementation and cross-browser compatibility
  • Calculate dimensions with calc() attribute
  • Create dropdown menus
  • Build scrollable navigation
  • DOM manipulation

Where and when is this class held?

This course will be held 1-day per week for 4-weeks for a total of 4-sessions. Each 2.5 hour session is from 6pm-8:30pm.

This course will be held in Conference A at the Flagship (475-A East Bay) and students are required to bring a laptop.

What can I accomplish?

By the end of this course, you will create a working website using enhanced knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3.

Are there any prerequisites?

Students should have a fundamental knowledge of HTML and CSS. Recommended CODEcamp classes: Web Basics 101 and GitHub.

Students will begin their own web project in Web Basics 101 and continue to build and develop the project throughout the Web Basics series.
